Happy summer all!
As you may recall, back in December, we announced that Catherine Atkin was taking a leave from running the Early Learning Lab, and that I was stepping in as Interim Executive Director. The past seven months have been an exhilarating and productive time for us as a team, and I am very happy to share that I have accepted the permanent position of Executive Director of the organization.
I’m eager to step into this role at this particular inflection point, as we are pushing forward on our work to advance innovation in family engagement and professional learning for early childhood teachers and caregivers.
I’m also delighted that Catherine will be rejoining the Lab team as Founder and Senior Advisor. She will continue to support the advancement of early childhood policy in California and other Lab projects. Catherine will also be carving out time to be with her daughter as she heads into her senior year of high school and pursue some personal projects.
As we head into the fall there is lots of exciting work on the horizon, including a new Parent Innovation Institute in Philadelphia and our upcoming report “Enabling Smart Early Childhood Technology in Public Systems: Where We Are and What Comes Next.”
I particularly want to thank our supporters, partners, and advisors who have been so helpful during this leadership transition and who continue to inspire us in our work to serve children and their families.
